Fearghal Morgan, Ph.D, B.Sc (Hons), C.Eng, FIEI
Fearghal is the Director of the Bio-Inspired Electronics and Reconfigurable Computing Research Group, National University of Ireland Galway. He has over 30 years research and industry experience in electrical and electronic engineering and has published over 100 research papers, conference proceedings and patents. Fearghal worked for seven years in the electronic and communications design industry with Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). He has 23 years experience teaching Digital Logic and Reconfigurable Computing Systems design to undergraduates, taught Masters, research Ph.D/Masters, Training of Trainers and international industry (Europe and USA). He has developed a passion for investigating new ways to enhance Digital System Design education, and applies research-led and workshop-based teaching techniques. Fearghal received the NUI Galway President's Award for Excellence in Teaching, 2009.
Seamus Cawley, Ph.D, B.E. (Hons)Seamus is a collaborator on the viciLogic platform development and led the front end development. Seamus completed his Ph.D. in 2012 in hardware neural network development and application, and remote FPGA lab development.
Frank Callaly, B.E. (Hons)Frank is a freelance software developer and architect based in Galway Ireland with over 15 years of experience in working with, and leading, development teams to deliver large-scale high-performance software systems. Working primarily in the areas of web technologies and mobile telecoms networks, Frank has designed software that has been deployed in mobile networks, including Tier 1 networks, across the globe.
Aedan Coffey:Aedan has over 30 years experience in the electronics industry, including the design of Integrated Circuits, FPGAs, Data Storage Systems, Database Accelerators, Serial ATA controllers and PHYs. He has also been involved in the development of specialist Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools for Integrated Circuit Design. Aedan has worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, Eurologic Systems Ltd and was a founder of Toucan Technology, a company that provided hardware and integrated circuit design services, which was subsequently bought by PMC Sierra. He has been granted 12 patents.
Declan O'Loughlin, B.E.(Hons).Declan has supported the development of the viciLab FPGA prototyping and GUI creator application, which enables user (students and engineers) to quickly implement their design on remote and local FPGAs, and to create interactive GUIs which illustrate behaviour and enhance understanding.
